Prof. Dr. Dieter Hess studied business administration at the University of Augsburg. Afterwards he completed his doctorate in finance at the University of Konstanz, where he also habilitated. After research and teaching assignments at the NYU Stern School of Business and the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management, he moved to the University of Cologne. He has held the Chair of Corporate Finance since 2004 and offers mainly application-oriented, empirical courses.
His research interests include the valuation of companies, profit forecasts and insolvency forecasts. He also researches interest rate structure models, information processing in financial markets and risk forecasts. The results of his work have been published in numerous journals, in particular the Review of Finance, the Journal of Empirical Finance, the Journal of Banking and Finance and the Journal of Future Markets.
