Johannes Elz has been working as a consultant at IPE since October 2025. He holds a German-French double bachelor's degree in Economics and a Master's degree in International Economics & Public Policy from the University of Mainz. During his Master's degree, he completed an Erasmus semester at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and a semester at New York University on a Fulbright scholarship.
In his master's thesis, Johannes analysed the influences that shape a society's attitudes towards international trade and foreign direct investment. To this end, he carried out empirical analyses with complex data sets.
Johannes gained professional experience as a working student at KfW Bankengruppe and as an intern at the United States Embassy in Berlin and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). These positions enabled him to develop a deep understanding of economic policy issues and gain his first insights into academic research work.
