Prof. Dieter

Prof Dr Dieter Hess studied business administration at the University of Augsburg. He then completed his doctorate in finance at the University of Constance, where he also habilitated. After holding research and teaching positions at the Stern School of Business at New York University and the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management, he moved to the University of Cologne. He has held the Chair of Corporate Finance there since 2004 and primarily offers application-orientated, empirical courses.

His research interests lie in particular in the valuation of companies, profit forecasting and insolvency forecasting. He also conducts research on interest rate structure models, information processing in financial markets and risk forecasting. The results of his work have been published in particular in the Review of Finance, Journal of Empirical Finance, Journal of Banking and Finance and Journal of Future Markets.
